The City Council heard public testimony on a bill that would require the Port Wardens to consider public water access as part of its licensing and permitting approval process. Alderman Ross Arnett, D-Ward 8, is the bill’s sponsor.
The four-person commission, chaired by former alderman Ian Pfeiffer, submitted their recommendations to the city on Monday. The pay raises would not go into effect until after the city general election in November 2021 when the new council is seated.
The Annapolis City Council has voted to condemn the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C., and the role former President Donald Trump played in inciting the violence. Monday night, the Anne Arundel County Council will take up a similar measure in a public hearing.
