Iconic Colorado Images Selected for New Colorado Drivers License Design - by Jan Wondra

Posted by Jan Wondra | Mar 6, 2021 Most artists can’t say their work is in wallets and purses throughout the state, but photographers Matt Nunez and Gabriel Dupon won’t have that problem when the new Colorado driver’s license rolls out in Fall 2021. Nunez and Dupon won the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) Iconic Colorado contest to redesign the State’s identification credentials. More than 55,000 Coloradans voiced their choice for the State’s upcoming Driver License design in the Iconic Colorado contest. Votes were tallied on Feb. 5. Governor Jared Polis honored the recipients in a state-wide online presentation on March 1 saying, “I want to congratulate all the Coloradans who submitted design and art, and all who voted for their favorite artwork. Our driver’s license is a piece of our brand – we take it with us no matter where we go. And  now we can say that Colorado has the most beautiful driver’s license for our state.”

Commissioners hire Moore as Hillside Country Living executive director

Robert D. Moore, of Pioneer, has been hired as the new executive director of Hillside Country Living. Williams County Commissioners made the announcement via a formal resolution at their meeting Monday. Moore, who goes by Darryll, begins Jan. 4, 2021, taking over for Donna Sprow. He will make $118,000 annually. Commission President Lew Hilkert said Moore currently works in management at a nursing home and assisted living facility in Temperance, Michigan, that is similar in size to Hillside, a county-owned skilled care nursing home and assisted living facility located at 9876 County Road 16, Bryan. Hilkert said Moore had been considered for the Hillside position when there was a previous opening, and though he wasn’t chosen then, he “stood out” based on his experience. When Sprow announced her intention to leave early last month, Hilkert said he approached him again, and Moore accepted.

Phyllis Eisenstein (1946-2020)

I have the privilege of being the only person to have co-authored a book with Phyllis: Eisenstein, P. and S. M. Scheiner. 1997. Overcoming the Pain of Inflammatory Arthritis. Avery, New York. Phyllis had suffered from severe arthritis ever since her teenage years. None of the standard treatments helped. One day she saw an ad claiming that megavitamins would help. She tried them and to her delight, they greatly relieved her pain and other symptoms. Most people would be content to stop there, but not Phyllis. She realized that it had to be some specific vitamin and so, using herself as the test subject, she systematically went through each of the ingredients one at a time until she isolated the ciritical one: pantothenic acid. She then became a crusader, letting all of her friends who also suffered from arthritis about her discovery.
