The area here has a transverse fault called the garlock fault that comes off the sierra nevadas and tehachapi mountains, and this area was covered with a lot of sand and sedimentary rock many, many years ago in the miocene, the pliocene era. Well, then, later came a volcanic surge and laid over it, and then with this fault uplifted, and most of these all these cliffs, besides this cliff, faced to the south, and as the wind and rain came along, it eroded and made these fabulous curtains as you go down and see these cliffs here in Red Rock Canyon. Yeah, not only oh, look over here, when you talk about curtains, this is just spectacular. Not only the color, which is the first thing that hits you, but the formations themselves.
