TROY, N.Y. â As part of the city s ongoing Earth Day celebration, volunteers from the Frear Park Conservancy and Terra Nova Church teamed up on Saturday morning for Frear Park s annual spring refresh.
Volunteers were split up into teams and assigned jobs in various parts of the park. Tasks including removing brush, raking, cutting away old or dead growth, weeding, pruning, removing non-native invasive plants, and picking up trash.
Work started at 9 a.m. and went until it was done.

This is the Conservancy s fifth spring refresh event since starting them in 2017. They have only missed hosting the event once, last year, because of the pandemic. Despite the interruption, Conservancy president Brian Sano says 2020 was not an idle year.
