A standoff in Fife, Washington, between a homeless advocacy group and local police, has ended in eviction.
Fife police in hazmat suits moved in on a Travelodge motel Wednesday to clear out more than 40 homeless residents staying there without paying, CBS affiliate KIRO 7 News reported.
Homeless advocates with Tacoma Housing Now brought the residents there from two Tacoma encampments. They booked 16 rooms and paid for a one-night stay on Christmas Eve, but had no plans to leave or pay any further bills.
