next tonight, ten young men under arrest in the suspected hazing death of a college student in louisiana. the lsu freshman died after attending a fraternity pledge event called bible study. here s abc s steve osunsami. reporter: one by one today, the frat brothers accused in the september hazing death of this lsu freshman were led away in handcuffs. their lawyers were upset it had to be so public. they re going to parade these kids up this walkway and into that facility and to parish prison. it s not necessary. reporter: nine of the ten young men from phi delta theta are charged tonight with misdemeanor hazing. but 19-year-old matthew naquin, who witnesses say was the most aggressive that night, is also accused of negligent homicide, a felony. 19-year-old max gruver died after what they called a bible study september 13th. pledges were asked questions about the fraternity, and police say that naquin and two others forced them to drink 190-proof alcohol when they got the ans
the judge today dismissing the most serious charges. here s linzie janis. reporter: tonight, the most serious charges in the hazing death of 19-year-old timothy piazza thrown out by a pennsylvania judge. 18 penn state fraternity brothers were accused of standing by as piazza pounded drinks, and doing nothing when it became clear he was in trouble. prosecutors say video shows piazza fell headfirst down a flight of stairs, struggling and in pain for hours. his fellow frat brothers allegedly ignoring and some even hitting him before eventually calling 911. but today the judge dismissed charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault. 14 brothers still face lesser charges including reckless endangerment and furnishing alcohol to minors. the charges which survived are very serious charges. reporter: piazza s parents, now looking ahead to the trial. at the end of the day we just want to see justice served.
