Manawatū People s Radio celebrates music month with a focus on songwriters

During music hours on 999AM people will hear nothing but Kiwi music for the month and DJs will be encouraged to play waiata in their shows. The daily showcase slot at 8pm and Sunday Live Zone at 5pm will be used to play archived interviews, performances and Sounds of Summer sets from the past 10 years. The station will host events each Thursday at Venue 409 on Church St from 7pm, with a focus on songwriting and DJs’ passions. There will be a community networking event on May 6, where local musicians can mingle and share ideas. The results of the mystery songwriting session will also be revealed. For that, five musicians who have never worked together before did so on a new song without knowing each other’s identities.
