Concern raised months ago about integrity of Washington building where facade collapsed

Back in November, the state of New Jersey told the owner of 10-12 E. Washington St. in Washington to put up scaffolding in front of the building because there was a concern the facade could fail, borough Manager Matthew Hall said Wednesday morning.
But between then and January, when Washington Township took over management of the borough’s construction codes needs, nothing much changed at the property where the top two stories of the brick front fell on Monday, except for the scaffolding going up, Hall said.
