After sitting in a jail cell for nearly eight months, a Martinsville man has walked away free from three counts of malicious wounding. The prosecution dismissed one charge of malicious wounding against Franky Uribe Merchan, 29, at the beginning of the trial on Tuesday, and it took about 15 minutes of deliberation by the jury to acquit him of the two additional malicious wounding charges in Henry Circuit Court.
A stabbing incident occurred at at birthday party in Collinsville on Sunday. Four people were treated for injuries and Franky Uribe Merchan, 28, of Martinsville, was charged with three counts of malicious wounding and jailed in the Henry County Jail.
