After witnessing the difficulties that arose when his pregnant wife needed blood 25 years ago, medical technologist Franklyn Whyte made a decision to start doing voluntary donations.
He now donates a unit of blood four times a year.
‘The blood bank is right next to where I work so accessibility isn’t a problem. It’s better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it, especially when it’s something as important as blood’, he stated.
