FRANKLIN, Ind. – Thursday was a big day for Franklin and Johnson County as a Safe Haven Baby Box (SHBB) was installed at Fire Station 22. There are still a few checklist items to be executed before it is fully operational, but the public should not have to wait too much longer.
The City of Franklin Fire Department says a big thank is in order to the Franklin Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council for securing the funding and connecting all the pieces to make the SHBB a reality. The city also appreciates Chief Matt Culp for his oversight and guidance with the Baby Box, the Franklin Township Trustees for funding the entire project, and Beats for Bristol for all of the research and effort put in on the front end of the project.

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Last week, the Franklin Township of Johnson County Trustee’s office and staff presented the Franklin Mayor s Youth Leadership Council with a check for $15,000 to fund a Safe Haven Baby Box. The Baby Box is to be installed at the Franklin Fire Department’s Fire Station 22, at 1800 Thornburg Lane.
The Youth Council partnered with Beats for Bristol, Inc. to assist in this service for the community. Beats for Bristol was responsible for laying the foundation for the project.
The teenagers involved still have quite a bit of work ahead of them, but they are excited to get the box placed and functional at the fire station.
