Fundraiser for family of 9-year-old Alabama girl struck, killed by car passes goal

A fundraiser for the family of a 9-year-old Russellville, Ala., girl who was struck and killed in an apparent traffic accident Friday night has already passed its goal, and has since been taken down.

Yaritza Nolasco, a fourth grader at Russellville Elementary School, was struck and killed between 5-5:15 p.m. Friday, just after dark, while trying to cross Waterloo Road in Russellville, according to the Franklin County Coroner Charles Adcox. Adcox said the driver didn’t see Nolasco, and the incident is being considered an accident.
