PHILADELPHIA – Counsel for the engineer of an Amtrak train that crashed and derailed in Philadelphia in 2015, who withdrew his client’s suit against the transit company in the interest of seeking relief in a state court and preventing duplicative litigation, is now facing a pursuit from Amtrak for over $322,000 in legal fees.

PHILADELPHIA – The engineer of an Amtrak train that crashed and derailed in Philadelphia in 2015 is seeking to withdraw his suit against the transit company that pursued indemnification and restitution for costs he incurred in defending himself both civilly and criminally in proceedings stemming from the accident.
At least seven people are reported to have been killed and over 140 injured late on Tuesday when an Amtrak train carrying 238 passengers and five Amtrak employees derailed outside of Philadelphia and rolled onto its side. Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter called the scene of the crash an "absolute disastrous mess," the likes of which he had never seen before.
Ex-Amtrak engineer Brandon Bostian was acquitted on March 4 of all charges related to the May 12, 2015 derailment of Northeast Regional Train 188 in Philadelphia that killed eight and injured more than 200.
