Dr. Atkins talked a lot about what we ought to think about doing as we are leading in an immediate crisis, something calling for our attention in the here and now. I think i want to talk about what it means to prevent a crisis, or more accurately, to lead in a way that intervenes in an ongoing crisis. I want to talk specifically about the school to prison pipeline. Have you heard the phrase . You would be surprised at how many rooms i have gone into the, and it is a completely new experience to hear about the school to prison pipeline, but i am lucky that i am in a room full of unicorns, a room full of people who are concerned with issues of equity and justice and diversity and inclusion, and ive got to say there arent very many rooms like this. There arent very many colleges of education like the one that don mentioned earlier please tell me your last name dr. Williams mentioned earlier today, which makes me feel like i have to step my game up and get a whole intro video for myself. [
