Will state workers come back to offices?

IEMA leases space at 1035 Outer Park Drive for $2.6 million over five years. Williams said that as of June, approximately 28,600 employees, or 60 percent, of the state s workforce throughout Illinois was in the office and approximately 18,900 employees, or 40 percent, of the workforce was still working remotely or in a hybrid status. Williams said it s too early to say how much of that remote work will continue, or what impact it may have on the square footage the state needs to maintain for its in-person employees. The Illinois Department of Central Management Services continues to assess the state s real estate portfolio statewide and will make future adjustments to optimize leases as needed, Williams said. The health and safety of state employees remains the highest priority.

Airport Board Chair Responds To Langfelder s Effort To Oust Him | WMAY | Stay Informed Stay Connected

By WMAY Newsroom May 11, 2021 | 1:05 PM Another showdown is looming between Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder and the head of the Springfield Airport Authority board. Langfelder sought to oust Frank Vala (VAL-uh) last year and replace him with former mayor Mike Houston, but couldn’t muster the votes. Now Langfelder is about to replace a board member with a new appointee who could be the deciding vote to get rid of Vala. Vala says he’s been successful in the post he’s held for nearly 15 years, and accuses Langfelder of not really understanding how the airport – or government in general – works.
