The flames broke out just before 3 p.m. on Coke Street near Comanche behind Ben Garza Park. According to the Corpus Christi Fire Department battalion chief Frank Solansky, when they arrived at the home, firefighters saw heavy smoke and noticed the outside of the home was on fire. The flames spread to the attic and nearby rooms.
