Francesco’s Pizzeria Gave Away Free Slices With Proof of Vaccination
Frank Schiavone wanted to mix business in [with] doing something good for the Providence, Rhode Island community.
Any customer who showed proof of vaccination in the May 2 promotion received a free slice from Francesco’s Pizzeria in Providence, Rhode Island.
Francesco’s opened last October, but co-owner Frank Schiavone’s pizza roots date back four generations.
The city issued a permit April 22 for Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine to renovate a Riverside building for its second restaurant.
Robert Mayhugh is the contractor for the $1.11 million project at 1551 Riverside Ave. The architect is Doherty Sommers Architects Engineers Inc.
Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine owners Jeff and Bam Schofield are building-out a 4,450-square-foot former dermatology office at what is now called Riverside Village near Memorial Park.
The restaurant owners signed a 10-year lease with landlord Schiavone Enterprises, led by Dr. Frank Schiavone.
The Riverside Blue Orchid includes an outdoor patio area.
The property comprises four former medical and office buildings on 1.3 acres at Riverside Avenue and Memorial Park Drive with views of Memorial Park.
Almost five years after opening in Harbour Village at San Pablo Road and Atlantic Boulevard, Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine chose Riverside for its second Jacksonville location.
Owners Jeff and Bam Schofield are building-out a former dermatology office at 1551 Riverside Ave. at what is now called Riverside Village near Memorial Park.
“We are really confident this location is perfect for our concept,” Jeff Schofield said March 15.
The city is reviewing a permit application for renovation of the facility into a restaurant with outdoor space. Schofield estimates a $900,000 build-out.
Schofield said Blue Orchid could be open in September. It will seat 141 inside, with a full bar, and 44 outdoors in an area that features an Asian garden theme.
