A self-professed sovereign citizen who was involved in a three-hour standoff with authorities in February has been sentenced up to 15 years in prison after being convicted in federal court.
Following a three-hour standoff where the defendant refused to exit his car and told officers they would have to kill him, Berris eventually surrendered and was arrested. He was convicted by a federal jury on June 11.
