White Sox-Twins: Sox lefty Carlos Rodon s start pushed back because of tight hamstring, back

Steph Chambers/Getty Images Left-hander Carlos Rodon’s scheduled start Thursday against the Twins got pushed back to Saturday against the Royals because of a tight right hamstring and tight back, manager Tony La Russa said Wednesday. La Russa characterized both issues as minor, but right-hander Lance Lynn will start Thursday on four days of rest. Rodon (5-0, 0.58 ERA) will get seven days after his scoreless six-inning performance with eight strikeouts and no walks Saturday against the Royals in Kansas City. “He had a little hamstring tightness,” La Russa said. “And he could’ve pitched [Thursday]. “It was more just to make sure and his back was a little tight, things that crop up. Just don’t want to push it, unless you have to, and we didn’t have to.”

White Sox still waiting for Jose Abreu, Yoan Moncada to heat up

CLEVELAND Reigning American League most valuable player Jose Abreu was batting .188/.293/.313 and led the AL with 25 strikeouts going into the White Sox’ game Tuesday against the Indians. But hitting coach Frank Menechino wasn’t concerned. ‘‘He knows he can have 15 walks right now,’’ Menechino said Sunday. ‘‘He’s expanding the zone, trying to get things done. And his timing is off. I saw this last year with him.’’ Menechino also saw Abreu working hard and said it only would be a matter of time before he saw something like what Abreu did Tuesday. He belted two home runs and added an RBI single in the Sox’ 8-5 victory.
