In china, they were looking for more opportunities. So, a lot of them came here. Their passage was paid for by, you know, other chinese merchants. And but they also ended up, you know, working in agriculture, in factors, also working for, you know, major houses and plantations. And also on the transcontinental railroad. During 1850 and onwards, life for the chinese here, i mean, there were primarily no workers. There was a lot of friction between them and, you know, other kind of ethnic groups. They tended to, you know, stick and settle in their own, you know, communities. And they were seen as, you know, competition because they were willing to work for lower wages. They were also seen as bringing down the quality of, you know, american morality, because they had settled in groups where there was prostitution.
