Atlanta Falcons
• Atlanta has the No. 4 overall pick in this month’s NFL Draft – at least for now – and is still deciding what direction it will head. New general manager Terry Fontenot wants to explore quarterbacks while head coach Arthur Smith thinks Matt Ryan is fine for now and even next season or beyond. Despite some internal conflict initially, reports this week say the two have reached common ground on what they’d like to do with their first-round pick. And according to reports they will be attending Justin Field’s second pro day, maybe giving a clue the direction they are heading.

DETROIT (AP) â The Detroit Lions have activated defensive tackle Danny Shelton from injured reserve and released defensive lineman Frank Herron. Detroit also announced other moves Saturday. The Lions signed safety Bobby Price to the active roster from the practice squad. They elevated defensive tackle Albert Huggins and center Evan Brown from the practice squad to the active/inactive list. And they restored linebacker Anthony Pittman to the practice squad from the COVID-19 list. Detroit wraps up its season against Minnesota on Sunday.
Price played in games against the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers last month, primarily on special teams. The Lions waived safety/special teams ace Jayron Kearse earlier this week, in part to take a look at some of the younger defensive backs on their roster.
The Lions also elevated offensive lineman Evan Brown and defensive lineman Albert Huggins to the gameday roster from practice squad, waived defensive lineman Frank Herron and restored linebacker Anthony Pittman to practice squad from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
