CAPE TOWN - A silent genocide. That s how activists have labelled hate crimes against members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
In the latest incident, a woman was killed in Khayelitsha last weekend.

Police confirmed that a man was arrested for Ndlwana s murder.
This is the fourth homophobic attack in less than two months in South Africa.

Cape Town – The LGBTQ+ community has suffered another hate crime after Phelokazi Ndlwana was stabbed and killed in Khayelitsha.
Her murder came just a day after 22-year-old Lonwabo Jack, who was killed allegedly for being gay, was laid to rest in the area at the weekend.
The family and friends of 24-year-old Ndlwana believe she was attacked in Site C early on Sunday morning because she lived openly as a lesbian.
Police spokesperson Andrè Traut said a 39-year-old man was arrested on Monday morning in connection with Ndlwana’s murder.

Cape Town â Yet another gay man has been murdered after being allegedly raped in a suspected hate crime in Nyanga.
Lonwabo Jackâs lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood with stab wounds in Mau-mau, Nyanga East. The incident occured on the 22-year-oldâs birthday, according to the Lesbian Alliance Of South Africa (GLASA).
Police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said: âA case of murder was opened for investigating after a body of a man was found stabbed in Pula Road, Nyanga. The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated by the police with no arrests yet. Allegations of rape form part of the investigation.â

THE man linked to the murder of Sphamandla Khoza appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrates Court yesterday.
Thando Mgenge (25) from Ntuzuma F, north of Durban, faces a murder charge for allegedly killing the 34-year-old over his sexuality.
Khoza’s body was found in a ditch near his home. His throat was slit and he was stabbed multiple times. Mgenge turned himself in.
Members of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of South Africa (Glasa) and the LGBTQI community were also in court.
Mgenge’s lawyer, Andile Thusi, brought the suspect’s aunt to court for her to confirm that she would take him in if he were granted bail.
