TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Alex Atkins is one of 15 semifinalists for the Broyles Award, given to the nation’s top assistant coach.
Atkins, in his first year as the Seminoles’ offensive coordinator and third as offensive line coach, oversees an FSU offense that leads the ACC and is 14th nationally with 217.0 rushing yards per game; is 23rd in the country and third in the conference with 35.4 points per game; and is 16th nationally and second in the league with 473.7 yards of total offense per game.
The Seminoles are in the midst of their most dominant stretch under Atkins, outscoring opponents by at least 25 points in four straight games. Quarterback Jordan Travis, with 21 passing touchdowns and 5 rushing touchdowns, became just the fourth player in FSU history with 20 passing touchdowns and 5 rushing touchdowns in a season.
