Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met via video conference with Jadranka Joksimovic, Serbian Minister of European Integration, on February 8.
The minister of state reaffirmed France’s support for Serbia’s strategic choice in support of accession to the EU and for its efforts to implement the necessary reforms, especially with respect to the rule of law, which is at the heart of the European project. The reform of the accession process makes this process more credible, appealing and reversible.
Lastly, with respect to the response to Covid-19, the minister of state reaffirmed France’s desire to see increased EU support for neighboring countries.
Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in charge of the Diaspora, of the Union of Comoros, on February 8.
The minister spoke with his counterpart about the health situation in the Comoros. He reaffirmed France’s support and commitment with respect to providing material assistance in order to help the Comoros deal with this new wave of the epidemic.
The minister also discussed the implementation of the renewed partnership framework document signed on July 22, 2019, through which France and the Union of Comoros made reciprocal commitments with respect to the fight against uncontrolled population movements and the saving of human lives at sea. He underscored the importance of strengthening the joint management by France and the Comoros of the flow of people and of continuing the efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks.
