THE FLATS – No. 31 Georgia Tech men’s tennis heads to Rome, Ga., for the start of the 2021 ACC Men’s Tennis Championships at the Rome Tennis Center, opening play as the No. 8 seed against No. 9 seeded Miami on Thursday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. (EST).
The Jackets are on a two match win streak following victories against Boston College and Louisville to end the regular season. Tech finished the 2021 campaign with a 12-8 record, with a 6-6 (.500) showing in conference play. Earlier in mid-February the Jackets suffered a 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes on the road, giving them extra incentive to start post season with a chip on their shoulders.

Martin, McDaniel, Chopra and Pablo Schelcher each represented the Yellow Jackets in the Oracle ITA Division I Preseason Rankings released on Wednesday. McDaniel and Schelcher were slotted as the No. 31 doubles pairing in the nation, while Martin and Chopra ranked No. 41. Martin also appeared in the top 125 preseason national singles rankin

McDaniel and Schelcher were slotted as the No. 31 doubles pairing in the nation, while Martin and Chopra ranked No. 41.
McDaniel paired up with senior Carlos Divar to take down No. 33 Miami’s 15th ranked doubles duo of Franco Aubone/Benjamin Hannestad 6-2 on Feb. 23, 2020. Schelcher went 2-0 in ACC doubles play in 2020 picking up wins over No. 40 Clemson’s Mike Agee/Jacob Jahn ,6-3, (Feb. 28) and No. 15 Florida State’s Sebastian Arcila/Marcus Walters ,6-3, (March 1).
