Remember When: The remarkable careers of T. H. Dolson & Ben Dolson

Thomas H. Dolson was born in Morgan County in 1851, and his son Ben was born in Lancaster in 1879. Both became outstanding Lancaster attorneys. In 1902 Thomas was described as “the most distinguished criminal lawyer of this part of Ohio…[and] Perhaps Mr. Dolson has been engaged in a greater number of criminal cases than any other lawyer of his age in the state of Ohio,” (Biographical Record of Fairfield Co.). When Ben died in 1950 his obituary stated: “He was widely known for his brilliant legal work and as a criminal trial lawyer.” Thomas practiced law in Lancaster for 40 years and son Ben practiced for 45 years. Like father, like son.
