SAN FRANCISCO As part of their celebration of Juneteenth, the holiday marking the emancipation of those who have been enslaved in the United States, the Giants will wear special replica San Francisco Sea Lions uniforms during Saturday afternoon’s game against the Phillies at Oracle Park.
This year will mark the 75th anniversary of the Sea Lions, who played in the West Coast Negro Baseball Association for one season in 1946. The Sea Lions jerseys feature a bear cub, because they inherited their uniforms from a defunct club known as the San Francisco Cubs, and their navy blue caps contain no logo or emblem.
