Esta hora son cientos de miles de familias, muchos hispanos, bajo un amenazante las fuertes tormentas que han caido en una semana en el sur del pais, especialmente para ustedes en texas, dejando por lo menos 4 personas sin vida y cientos de miles de clientes sin luz. Los fuertes vientos de hasta 80 mph han provocado inundaciones, han derribado arboles, y tambien estructuras completas. Borja los danos son considerables en varias zonas del estado del estrella solitaria, ademas de luisiana y mississippi. La pesadilla no acaba aqui, porque las pesimas condiciones meteorologicas avanzan ahora hacia otros estados del pais. Hacemos conexion con Maria Gabriela rondon, ella esta en houston, una de las zonas mas afectadas. Maria asi es, buenos dias. Aileen comenzamos hablando de este tragico accidente, un autobus lleno de Trabajadores Agricolas que se estrello en el condado de maron en la florida, segun reportes hay al menos ocho muertos y decenas de heridos, varios de ellos estan en condicion critica. Borja en el autobus viajaban mas de 50 personas que iban hacia una plantacion de sandias. Te contamos que este condado, el condado de maron es predominantemente agricola y tiene una importante presencia de trabajadores migrantes. I was dennis casey. Oh, sorry. Too many pieces of paper here. Go ahead. My name is chris hinkey and i have had my Building Three years. There has been three floods there. After the first flood, i realized its going to be a lot of work to get this fixed. I spent almost million on the building to prevent water getting in with doors and floodprevention systems and pumps and everything. I urge you to get this motion passed so all the other residents can do the same things to protect their buildings. It would really be helpful, particularly before el ninos come in and Global Warming and so on. The bigger picture, we would like to get this fixed permanently to prevent the surge waters getting into our builds. There are proposesals and one is to put a proposed park on 17th and folsom street. But if we can put that in, it could actually prevent the water getting into our buildings anyway. So i really hope we could look at this further and meanwhile today, lets get this first stage passed. But we have run into challenges, because the flood barriers and the backflow preventers didnt necessarily meet everybodys needs. Hence, flood walls, in further meetings we decided that we can meet an awful lot more of these needs with flood walls and grade changes, perhaps plumbing changes.
