Zambia : Zesco United Open 10 Point Lead

Zesco United have beaten Indeni 2-0 in the away Ndola derby to open a ten point lead at the top of the FAZ Super Division table. Zesco left it late to collect three points in this round 27 tie played at Indeni Sports Complex on Saturday. Indeni managed to hold Zesco until the 83rd minute when defender Mwila Phiri breached the Oil Men backline. Coach Numba Mumamba’s Zesco doubled the lead four minutes later with new signee Chitiya Mususu opening his account at the Ndola side – months after joining them from Zanaco. The win pushes Zesco to 52 points after playing 24 matches as Indeni drop one place down to number 11 on 33 points.

Zambia : Mayuka and Chamanga Shine in Lusaka Derby

2012 AFCON icons Emmanuel Mayuka and James Chamanga scored for their respective sides on Saturday when Red Arrows and Napsa Stars drew 2-2 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka. Mayuka scored a brace for visitors Napsa while Chamanga scored Arrows’ opening goal in an entertaining Lusaka derby. Mayuka got the show on the road when he hooked on to Jacob Ngulube’s cross with his right foot and on the turn fired in a sublime shot. But Chamanga refused to be upstaged and he tapped in with ease a neat pass from Allasane Diarra in the 25th minute. Diarra again was provider in the 42nd minute this time for Joseph Phiri who also tapped in the ball in similar fashion.

Zambia : Red Arrows Recovery Continues After Downing Buildcon

Red Arrows recovery continued on Saturday when they beat hosts Buildcon to collect their second straight league win. Arrows beat Buildcon 2-1 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to hand the early season pacesetters their third straight defeat of the season. Francis Simwanza struck a left-footed shot in the 20th minute to put Arrows ahead. But four minutes later, Chipolopolo striker Brian Mwila headed-in the equalizer off a Shadreck Musonda cross in his first match back after three quiet seasons in Europe. However, veteran striker James Chamanga refused to be eclipsed and struck in the 33rd minute when he powered he was way through two Buildcon defenders before beating goalkeeper Benson Mwale.
