Police: 1 adult, 1 juvenile, arrested for stealing Grubhub delivery man s car in Hoboken

Hudson County View By John Heinis/Hudson County View Deveon Palms 19, and a 17-year-old male, both from Jersey City, were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and eluding, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera. On Wednesday at approximately 8:19 p.m., a Grubhub delivery man reported his vehicle stolen. The victim explained that he was picking up a delivery in the area of 1st and Washington Streets and left his vehicle running and unattended. Then when he returned, his vehicle was gone. Police Officers Damien Bates, Tyrone Huggins and James Barbro responded to the victim and provided a description of the stolen vehicle. Moments later, Police Officer Francis McCourt located the vehicle traveling westbound in the area of Newark and Harrison Streets.

Hudson County View By John Heinis/Hudson County View Mathew Laneve, 31, of New York, New York, was charged with three drug charges each for possession of meth and Gamma-hydroxybutyrate with intent to distribute near a public park and school,  as well as possession of Oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, and uttering forged documents, according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera. On Wednesday, January 20th, at about 9:56 p.m., Sgt. Luke Zeszotarski and Officer Arturo Gonzalez were dispatched to meet the owner of a vehicle, who rents cars through the phone app Getaround, who found illegal drugs inside the vehicle. On the aforementioned date, the vehicle was towed by Getaround from New York City to Hoboken since they believed the vehicle was left abandoned.

Lt. Danilo Cabrera. On Sunday at approximately 10:01 p.m., Police Officer Francis McCourt was approached in the area of 70 Hudson St. and was informed of an injured person lying on the ground in the area of River Street and Hudson Place. Upon arrival, McCourt found the injured person standing in the street and he appeared dazed, unsteady on his feet, and had a large contusion on his forehead.

One was wanted in connection with an assault that occurred two days prior. According to a press release from the HPD, on Dec. 17 at about 9:54 p.m. communications officers reported a hit and run in the area of Third St. and Willow Ave. to all police units. The fleeing vehicle was described as a gold minivan seen traveling east on First St. from Willow Ave. Moments later, Lieutenant Keith Rotondi reported seeing the vehicle traveling north on Washington St. from First St. with heavy front-end damage and no headlights on.
