Urged by rookie Liberal MP Ryan Turnbull, a group of senators is calling on the government to support the House Social Innovation Caucus’s proposal to invest in social enterprise businesses to help rebuild the Canadian economy.
Social enterprise businesses seek out objectives with a positive social or environmental impact that still produce moderate financial returns, unlike many businesses that prioritize strong financial returns.
Turnbull founded the Social Innovation Caucus after the 2019 election. He is an experienced social entrepreneur and launched his own social innovation consulting firm in 2008.
