CLEVELAND, Ohio A 24-year-old man who shot one man dead, wounded another and pistol-whipped a woman at July 4 cookout in Cleveland received a 28-year prison sentence on Thursday.
Sean Corrigan, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, attempted murder and felonious assault charges in the attack that left 56-year-old Francis D’Amico dead, a 59-year-old man with a bullet in his back and a 57-year-old woman pistol-whipped.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors originally charged Corrigan with aggravated murder, which would have put him behind bars for life had he been convicted. Prosecutors allowed him to plead guilty to the reduced charge in exchange for his plea.
