Six people arrested for allegedly helping inmates escape from the Merced County jail

Jan. 20 The Merced County Sheriff s Office arrested six people accused of helping inmates escape from the Merced County jail on Jan. 10.
The arrests were made by the Merced County Sheriff s Office, The United States Marshals Service, and the Department of Justice. Over the past week, investigators have learned that friends and family members of the escapees aided in their escape during and after their incarceration, the Merced County Sheriff s Office stated in a social media post.
Deputies identified those arrested as Sonia Montes, 46, of Merced, Elvira Aleman De Montes, 66, of Atwater, Alexia Hernandez-Ramirez, 20, of Atwater, Arthur Quirarte, 19, of Atwater, Rosario Coronado, 41, of Merced, and Raheem Hill, 28, of Merced.
Authorities in central California were searching Sunday for six inmates who used a homemade rope to escape from a county jail, sheriff s officials said.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office has organized a manhunt to apprehend six inmates who escaped from the Merced County Downtown Jail in Northern California.
All six inmates who escaped from the jail Sunday were Hispanic males between the ages of 19 and 22, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office, and were found to be missing from their cell just before midnight. A preliminary investigation found that the inmates scaled down the side of the jail using a homemade rope after gaining access to the roof.
Escaped inmate Fabian Cruz Roman, 22, from Los Banos, California, was in the jail on a murder charge. Gabriel Francis Coronado, 19, from Atwater, California, was charged with attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, participating in a criminal street gang, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and violation of probation.

Authorities are conducting a manhunt for six inmates who escaped the Merced County Downtown Jail Saturday night.
The inmates gained access to the roof of the jail and used a homemade rope to scale down the side of the building, according to the findings of a preliminary investigation. Jail staff determined the inmates were missing just before midnight, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
