Spider-Man Scribe David Koepp Will Write The Green Hornet and Kato Movie
Back in April, Universal Pictures picked up
The Green Hornet and Kato, a new reboot based on the classic pulp heroes created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker in 1936. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, David Koepp has signed on to write the film.
Koepp’s career in Hollywood spans over three decades. Among his numerous credits, Koepp wrote the scripts for the very first
Spider-Man movie in 2002, as well as
Jurassic Park,
Panic Room, and more.
Green Hornet and Kato were originally created for a radio serial. Beneath his mask, the Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a crusading newspaper publisher. Reid and his partner, Kato, use their respective alter egos to infiltrate the criminal underworld in order to take it down from within. Van Williams and Bruce Lee starred in the Green Hornet ’60s TV series, while Seth Rogen and Jay Chou played Green Hornet and Kato in the 2011 movie.
