Access Communications offers $20,000 in scholarships to Saskatchewan high school graduates

Established in 2005, the Access Communications Doug Alexander Scholarship Program has awarded more than $360,000 to over 1,300 students since its inception. The program’s scholarship recipients don’t just exhibit academic excellence – they demonstrate a genuine passion for volunteerism, giving their time to improve their communities.   “Our scholarship program recognizes students who actively make their communities better places to live,” said Fran Moran, Communications Manager at Access. “Many of last year’s recipients began their post-secondary education virtually, adding uncertainty to an already stressful time. By lessening their financial burden, our program supports these future leaders and their pursuit of higher education.”

caller: it s always been a double standard when it comes to mexico. at least they are taking illegal immigration seriously. they don t fool around. if you are at the border and you don t turn back they will shoot to kill. what goes on? how do they handle their deportations or turning people around at the border? the stories we get from the people that we have caught from central america, they are much more violent, much more intolerant. if somebody, no matter what country they are from they know if they are caught by a u.s. border patrol agent they are going to be treated fairly, they are going to be processed and sent back to their country in almost all cases. but the people we talk to, the central americans that are apprehended in mexico and later caught by us they tell us stories of being robbed and beatens, raped in some cases. it s a very dangerous journey and a different environment in terms of law enforcement.
