Frank Dumbleton is one of the centre’s longest-serving volunteers and photographers. The award is organised by Tourism South East which said Mr Dumbleton had been chosen for his long-standing commitment and hard work at the railway centre. The loyal volunteer has been involved with the Great Western Society, which is the charity that has run the living museum since its formation in 1961. Mr Dumbleton typically dedicates more than 100 days each year of his time as the centre’s photographer. He records activities on the 21-acre site and takes publicity shots to help promote the popular tourist attraction. The railway enthusiast even took part in the Antiques Road Trip last year on BBC with the railway centre.

Island Businesses Announced As Finalists In Beautiful South Awards

Despite a challenging year for tourism on the Isle of Wight due to the coronavirus lockdowns, and the effects of the pandemic on would-be visitors, Isle of Wight businesses are still shining.
The finalists of the Beautiful South Awards have been announced, with several Island establishments making the cut in the prestigious competition, which is run by regional organisation Tourism South East.
Isle of Wight businesses are up against tourism industry heavy hitters from across the south, including Kent, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire.

Away Resorts at Whitecliff Bay, English Heritage s Osborne and wild camping site Camp Wight are all named as finalists in the prestigious competition run by Tourism South East. They will face competition from heavy hitters from across the south, including Kent, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire. Visit Isle of Wight MD Will Myles has congratulated them, ahead of the award ceremony in March.
