Stephen Lawrence s mother says the race report gives racists the green light

Baroness Doreen Lawrence said the authors of the report are not in touch with reality . Her comments come after the report said geography, family influence, socio-economic background, culture and religion all affect life chances more than racism. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said more work needs to be done to tackle very serious issues of racism in Britain. Baroness Lawrence was made a peer in 2013 after campaigning for justice for her son who died in 1993 following a racially motivated attack in south-east London. Lord Lieutenant of Sussex Sir Peter Field knighted with special honour

THE Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex has described his surprise and delight at being awarded a knighthood from the Queen. Sir Peter Field was included in the New Year Honours List and received a special kind of honour - the Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO), which was a personal gift from the Queen. The 74-year-old said: I was very surprised first of all.  I didn t think I would get an honour and this is a personal honour from the Queen, so it s really nice she singled me out. Sir Peter Field at a Remembrance service in 2016 I m delighted and feel greatly honoured. It s lovely.
