inspecting other planes and that caused hundreds of cancellations. matt. reporter: will, there were 118 passengers and five crew members aboard that 737 jet. passengers said it all came out of the blue. there was an explosion, sounded like an explosion. next thing they knew, the sunlight and wind was coming through a hole in the roof of the plane. this as the pilot made an emergency landing. it was a flight the passengers will never forget. all of a sudden there s a loud bang and it s really, really windy. we were at 36,000 feet or something like that and brought it down to 10,000 in four minutes. because of the strange occurrence, southwest voluntarily took 79 other jets out of service temporarily so they could be inspected. a tell of 300 flights were canceled. some cancellations have been an effect third good marshal. southwest passengers were concerned about the hole that opened up in the middle of the plane and they were glad to hear the airline decided to ins
ilmar paegle told the judiciary committee last week d.c. police and the attorney general s office are trying to blame the medical examiner s office and the manufacturer of breathalyzers for what he claims are years of faulty test results, problems he first discovered when he took over the alcohol testing program as a contractor a little over a year ago. of course, the first question a rose to me is what happened here? what procedures were they following? and i discovered almost immediately, in fact, i knew immediately that they hadn t been following proper forensic protocols and checking the cal abrasions. the process is called acquisition calibrations. the process is called accuracy testing and this had not been done and i discovered as i looked into the files that this accuracy testing had not been done at least a decade and probably longer. probably started in the late 1980s and probably early 1990s. reporter: later paegle told judiciary chairman phil mendelssohn in

walter joined 30 other criminology majors who volunteered to be shot or taken hostage during a sophisticated police drill at the university of maryland shady grove campus. but what we liked about the university was the fact that they had multiple buildings. they had a campus. it adds a little bit of extra challenges to responding officers. lieutenant paul rom organized the drill which had four suspects running through two buildings while shooting about 20 different people. i learned that when you are in a situation like this you have to put your game face on. and you have to have all senses heightened. because the bad guy could be just around the corner. reporter: both the suspects and the police officers were using simmunition made out of white soap and the powder goes all over you. it hurts worse than a paint ball. something christopher winkler found out when he was shot in the leg. here it just extinction. if i had actually gotten taken if i actually gotten
