HG Wells classic 1898 sci-fi novel,
War of the Worlds, has been retold and reimagined over the years in various formats and variations with different degrees of success. But its most recent retelling is a spectacular must-watch.
Created and written by Bafta-winner Howard Overman, who is known for his work on shows like
Misfits,
Crazyhead and
Merlin, the modern TV series is set in France and the UK, and stars Gabriel Byrne (Bill Ward) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (Emily Gresham) in the lead roles.
