president xi is speaking about ping-pong diplomacy. that s more than 40 years ago. president trump is trying to be friendly. but whether the chinese will really say something harsh in the next 60 minutes will be quite important. if they have pre-conditions like take huawei off the black list, that s a non-starter. if they refuse to restart the talks and have round 12 that s pretty bad. the other factor going on now is north korea. whether president xi will help make the meeting at the dmz happen or say nothing about it. shannon: competing interests with all the parties here. the chinese signaling that there won t be any concessions on their part unless the sanctions and tariffs are rolled back. a senior chinese negotiator telling fox business china has been against unilateral sanctions and economic bullying.
