The Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament begins today with fifth-seeded Houston taking on No. 2 seed Villanova in the South Region championship game in San Antonio. Both the Cougars and Wildcats are trying to get to the Final Four for the seventh time. Houston is looking to reach consecutive Final Fours for the first time since 1982-84. The Cougars never trailed in their win over top-seeded Arizona in the Sweet 16. The Big East champion Wildcats, who advanced by beating Michigan, now have to beat the local favorite to get to the Final Four. The game is being played about 200 miles from the Houston campus.
Fourth-seeded Arkansas used what amounted to a sneak attack to take down No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga, not only knocking the Bulldogs out the NCAA Tournament but taking out a whole lot of fans still hoping to win bragging rights and office pools.
