Firefighters say a man tried rescuing his neighbor after an Early Morning Apartment Fire in waterloo. Authorities tell tv9 this happened at 1720 jefferson street. Thats just west of the cedar river, near downtown. We learned of the fire just after 5. Fire investigators say they found the smoke and flames in an upstairs apartment. Officials say the neighbor below heard a noise upstairs. Thats when he broke through an upstairs window, cutting his hand to try and unlock the door. Later, fire crews went to the complex and found a second man in the upstairs apartment. Officials say both neighbors went to the hospital, but theres no details yet on their conditions. Reporter Thomas Eric Duncan is now the first person in the United States to die from ebola.
