Free activities to enthuse kids about return of osprey to UK nesting grounds

World Osprey Week is this year celebrating the 25th anniversary of the UK osprey reintroduction project. Cumbria Wildlife Trust (CWT) planned to launch a week of activities in Cumbrian primary schools last spring. However, this was cancelled due to the pandemic. But between March 22 and 26 the charity will offer a series of online resources, releasing an osprey video and activity pack each day as well as hosting competitions. The aim is to get people, in particular children, interested in the osprey and its annual migration journey between southern Europe and West Africa. Danielle Chalmers, CWT osprey education project officer, said the upcoming event would be a great way of getting ready for the return of Cumbria s pair of breeding ospreys at Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve, expected at the end of this month.
