will have a disproportionate effect on poor people and on communities of color, foster care system also has disparities in color. there s no evidence for all that black families abuse their children anymore than white families, but black children are more likely to come into foster care, more likely to be forced to stay in foster care, and more likely to be abused while they are in foster care than other children. so i m really concerned about the increase in children entering foster care, it will increase the racism that happens there in the disproportion already that happens to children there as well. sarah, you sounding the alarm is hugely important. people don t necessarily realize all the complications associated with a move like this. sara scintilla s, thank you for your work, thank you for your book. we look forward to reading it. coming up next. with a short work week is gonna be long on anger and anxiety. the story of john meacham is
abortion at roe versus wade but they re not necessarily thinking of the knock on effects of these bans. can you explain how it s gonna affect the foster care system? i think there is a lot of talk about this idea about somehow ending abortion will increase the number of children who are placed for adoption. but that s not what is going to happen. women and people who were forced to carry their pregnancies to term, most of those people are gonna choose to parent. what is going to increase is the number of children in foster care. i am a license foster parents. in my training i was told at the child welfare system prioritizes children, and i know there s a ton of amazingly skilled social workers across the country who work hard, but in my experience, trying to care for a child in foster care and her mother was trapped in that system is not easy. we re not a country prioritizes family and children.
all ypu have to look do is look at the foster care system to know that that is not the case. every states foster care system is different and now every states abortion laws are different. how worried are you that this broken system is really going to get worse because of this? i am really worried and i m most worried that this is most going to affect kids and families. i m afraid it access to abortion is going to swelter an overburdened foster care system. on any day in united states, there are nearly 500,000 children in foster care. one in three children will and interact with child protective services before they turn 18, and so without access to that pro child pro family social services that i just think that our country is going to face even more children coming into care. here s what is on my mind. many of these states that are banning abortions already have very minimal social safety nets.
but we got a chance to say what has life been like, do you want to go back to the white house, all those questions she has put a lot of work into crypto currency, benefiting the faster child effort. what will: what a worthy project and natural processes the foster system. once you see what happens with children or siblings were family in that world, that world means a bright light, it needs hope and what a worthy project for her, happy she focused on that. a few additional headlines starting with a foxbusiness look, hundreds of people last night at the bucks celtics game, gunshots bringing outside the arena, police say three people were shot including a 16-year-old girl, one person was arrested.
sent home with his family in his home country or put in the foster system. most likely his father was here. usually that s what it is. the guy will come across, get smuggled in and sent to the kid. the reason why was asking, this is one other facet of this problem that people don t appreciate. you do, chris, and your men and women. i m curious when you hear the administration saying that title 42 is still going to go but we have a plan, we don t know what that plan is, what would you like it to be? title 42 is going away what would you like to see out of the administration? yeah, it would be nice if they let us in on that little piece of information, too. we don t know what the plan is either. i think we know the only thing that will work will be mandatory detention, mandatory removal and persuade people that if they come across, they ll go back to their home country and start things the legal way, not till legal way.
