The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) cut the ribbon today at the new Inn at Foster Falls, located within New River Trail State Park.
By PATRICK FORD patrick@southwesttimes.com As Jennifer Grubb starts work at Foster Falls Hotel, she finds herself in the shoes of her grandmother, Doris Fields. “My grandmother is the oldest living orphan that grew up here,” said Grubb, who manages the hotel kitchen. Located on the New River, Foster Falls Hotel served as an orphanage starting in 1938. It remained a co-ed orphanage until its closure in 1962. Now, the hotel is managed by New River Retreat.
