Dr Fabian Sander: Our goal is to achieve the best solutions
Before the corona shutdown, we visited the on-site research and development center for foundries, located near the Technical University of Enschede in the Netherlands, which has been researching and working for the international foundry industry for about 5 years. There, we met Dr. Fabian Sander, Global R&D Head at the Vesuvius Foundry Division, who enthusiastically showed us the facilites, including ultra-modern laboratories and test foundry, all fitted with the latest technology and equipment from well-known suppliers. The R&D center in Enschede naturally works closely with the production facilities of Vesuvius GmbH in Borken, and can therefore offer customers the cutting-edge technology that foundries need. As Dr. Sander emphasized, the goal is to achieve the best solutions.

Foseco at GIFA – this year s hotspot for the foundry business
GIFA 2019, the most important trade fair in the world for the foundry industry will be held on 25-29 June 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Together with the with GIFA Forum, this represents an ideal opportunity to get an overview of the latest trends and technology developments for the foundry industry.

A solution to rapid changes of nozzle size in bottom pour applications
When using stopper and nozzle technologies for bottom pouring applications it may be desirable to change nozzle diameters between fills of the ladle or even between castings. In normal circumstances this would not be possible as it would require removing and replacing the nozzle and stopper.
Foseco VAPEX FOSLOW is a new system that allows for changes in nozzle diameter, even in a full ladle. VAPEX FOSFLOW alumina graphite nozzles use both carbon and ceramic bond technology. The combination of the two bonding systems provide unique beneficial properties for steel foundry ladle applications.

Change in Management and Leadership at Foseco; Outlook for a Stronger Foundry Industry
On 30 June 2021, Heinz Nelissen will retire after 31 years of successful service to the Foseco and Vesuvius group of companies.
Heinz Nelissen was instrumental in the development and expansion of Foseco and Vesuvius, first as product manager for non-ferrous products, then for Foseco as sales manager of the foundry non-ferrous business unit. After two years of business development in Eastern Europe and the founding of Foseco Poland, he returned to Borken, where he took over the Ferrous Division as Business Unit Manager from 2002. In 2003 he was appointed Managing Director of Foseco GmbH. As Director Europe North for the Foundry Division, Heinz Nelissen was then mainly responsible for the management of the Foundry Division from 2005.
