Fort Stockton’s only movie theater will become a memory on Dec. 31 due to “failure to establish an amicable landlord-tenant relationship” between Panther Pictures (operated by Collette and Lino Barragan) and the City of Fort Stockton. The Barragans lease the space at the Fort Stockton Convention Center on Interstate 10, a lease that began a 36-month term on Sept. 26, 2022, but could be rescinded without cause by either party with 90 days’ notice, according to the lease agreement obtained by the Pioneer on Dec. 20.
Olivia Sanchez Jasso, 81, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Aug. 20, 2023, in Midland, Texas. Olivia was born in Presidio, Texas to Juan and Maria Sanchez on Jan. 29, 1942. She attended Fort Stockton High School and graduated from Sul Ross University in Alpine with a degree in education. On Oct. 21, 1962 she married Ramon Jasso, the man of her dreams. Together they made their home in Fort Stockton, where they made a beautiful home for their three daughters, Laurie, Mellissa, and Tanya.
