A Chaffee Crossing committee approved plans by developers to create three new buildings.
Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority s Design Review Committee approved designs for Blake Properties off Chad Colley Boulevard, northwest of Custer Boulevard. The building, which will be separated into three suites, is near the Glatfelter plant.
Before construction begins, the design will also have to go before the Fort Smith Planning Commission for approval. All projects within the Fort Smith city limits have to go before the planning commission.
The Design Review Committee committee also approved a design for a property on the north side of Frontier Road and east of Chad Colley Boulevard in Barling. Workers will eventually create two buildings on the property. The buildings will each be two stories and will have four residential units on each top floor.

FORT SMITH, Ark. The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority’s real estate review committee approved a request by Arkansas Colleges of Health Education to purchase 77 acres located on the corner of Roberts and Chad Colley boulevards in Chaffee Crossing for $1 million.
The property is just south of the college’s main campus and abuts 68 acres FCRA conveyed to the colleges in 2019 for trails that connect to the college’s Celebration Park. The approval came during the authority’s committee meeting held Thursday (March 11).
