Which school districts could pay more, or less, for ECTS renovations

Under the proposed change, five participating districts would pay less, and six would pay more. The Millcreek Township School Board wants to change the way that local school districts pay for improvements at Erie County Technical School. A funding formula change proposed by Millcreek would save the district about $5 million when bills for $27,775,000 in planned renovations at the school come due. It also would save money for four other Erie County school districts that send students to the school: Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane and Harbor Creek. Six participating school districts would pay more: Girard, Iroquois, North East, Northwestern, Union City and Wattsburg. The bill for the Iroquois and Union City school districts would triple. Girard s obligation would double.

Erie School District expects to get $28 million in new COVID-19 relief bill

The newly passed federal COVID-19 relief bill provides about four times as much funding for K-12 schools as did the first coronavirus relief bill that Congress passed in March. The increase in funding for schools means a big boost for the Erie School District, which is continuing its financial recovery, and other school districts in the region. The Erie School District, the largest in northwestern Pennsylvania with about 11,000 students and a budget of $210 million, will receive $27,756,501 in aid under the new $900 billion relief legislation, according to preliminary estimates that Republican state senators in Harrisburg received this week. The Erie School District received $6,761,026 in aid through the previous legislation, the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

A Very Short History of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Quarterly

A Very Short History of Pittsburgh For Pittsburgh, geography and geology have been destiny. August 25, 2008 Geography comes first. Close upon the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers, one gets a sense of westward flowing waters, but a map of Western Pennsylvania shows the Allegheny flowing south and the Monongahela north, almost at right angles to the Ohio. A fourth river, the Potomac, comes into play by bringing the coast of Virginia close to the Monongahela and allowing for some tough navigation to connect Pittsburgh with the Atlantic Ocean. Lastly the mountains. The western slope of the Alleghenies lies some 40 miles from the Point. From there, it’s a straight 1,500-mile shot to the Rockies. Pittsburgh not only faces but opens the great heartland of America. Before the canals and railroads, the Ohio and Mississippi river systems were the interstate highways of their day.
