Season for tornadoes as cold air returns to the midwest and we had eight touch down in iowa today and from what weve been able to tell so far that is the largest outbreak for the state of iowa. Weve got some video of the actual storms tonight and here you can see one in Grundy County. This was taken by a friend of mine, storm chaser Kevin Walters and you can see the storm system as it moved county, now youre looking at parkersburg. Theres two funnels there. The one on the left produced a tornado. Most of the activity regarding tornadoes was in butler and grundy counties where there were at least six reports of tornado touch downs there. The rain has moved out of eastern iowa. No more thunderstorms to be concerned about. A front has passed on through here and thatll Start Building colder and colder air as we go through the next several days. Theres a little bit of snow in the slight tip of the state. Thank you dave. Scientists with the u. S. Geological survey were in cedar rapids taking water level measurements. Theyre trying to make sure that the flood gauges are accurate. Theyve been following the flooding over the past several days. How long have the crews been out following this. We started on thursday because we knew what had happened in green. And we knew that in 2008 there was an event around 11 inches of rain. 12 inches something is going to happen. So we started sending people out the flood and to make sure they were okay. Some of our crews from the fort dodge were going out and measuring on the winnebago river. Well look at the projections of the Weather Service is getting. We start to think we have and so we can look at what elevation they have projected and our instrumentation may have a problem at that point and lets prepare for 5 or 10 feet higher than they are expecting. And shes happy, buss is facing charges of child endangerment resulting in death. The criminal complaint reveals kristis fiance chad little had been living with kristi and her two police little would physically beat gracie a lot and another witness had told police little got in argument with buss and threw something at herbut gracie got in the way. Kristiwho was interviewed by officers initially told police gracie had fallen down the stairs the night before. Later changing her storysaying gracie fell down the stairs just hours before, not the night before. And in a third her story saying gracie never did fall down the stairs. Now kristi is being charged for failing to stop her fiances physical abuse to gracie. Multiple witnesses also say they saw visible injuries to kristi while they were dating.
